The frequency distribution of ABO and Rh(D) blood groups among the Koppalavelama, a caste population of Andhra Pradesh has been studied. For the ABO blood group system (n=207), the gene frequencies were calculated as 0.1524 (p), 0.1963 (q) and 0.6513 (r). The gene frequency (d) of the Rh(D) negative trait (n = 207) was 0.1554. These frequencies have also been compared with those of the available neighbouring caste populations from Andhra Pradesh
